Let us describe the challenge


The Business Development Manager – EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) will lead the expansion of Water Linked’s business across the EMEA market, identifying and cultivating new business opportunities, driving sales growth, and building long-term relationships with clients in key industries.

This role requires a proactive, results-driven individual with a strong understanding of the marine and underwater technology sectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a regional strategy, engaging new customers, and working closely with the sales and technical teams to meet client needs.

What you'll do



You may work from our office in Trondheim or Aberdeen, or remotely from your home country. Your primary responsibilities will include:


Market Expansion & Strategy

  • Develop and execute a regional business development strategy for EMEA, aligning with Water Linked's global goals and growth targets.
  • Conduct thorough market research to identify key growth opportunities within aquaculture, offshore energy, marine research, and defence sectors.
  • Identify and establish relationships with industry stakeholders, partners, and key decision-makers in target organizations.
  • Analyse competitive trends and market conditions to proactively adapt and align strategies.



New Business Development

  • Proactively pursue new business leads through networking, cold outreach, attending industry events, and leveraging existing contacts.
  • Deliver compelling presentations and product demonstrations to showcase the unique value of Water Linked’s technology to prospective clients.
  • Negotiate and close sales contracts, ensuring alignment with company pricing, profitability, and long-term customer value strategies.
  • Build and manage a robust pipeline of prospects, using our CRM tool to document activities, progress, and results.



Account Management & Customer Relationships

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for key customers within EMEA, managing accounts from initial engagement to post-sales support.
  • Work closely with the technical team to ensure seamless integration of Water Linked solutions, addressing any challenges clients may face.
  • Identify and act on opportunities for upselling and cross-selling within existing accounts.
  • Foster strong, lasting relationships with clients to drive satisfaction, loyalty, and long-term partnerships.


Collaboration & Communication

  • Collaborate with marketing to develop region-specific materials, campaigns, and initiatives that resonate with the EMEA market.
  • Work closely with the technical team to gather and communicate customer requirements, helping to inform product development and customization.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to the Chief Commercial Officer on regional performance, opportunities, and any challenges.


Who are you?

  1. We think you would be a good fit and enjoy this role if you have the following qualifications and experience: 

  2. Education
  3. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Marine Technology, or a related field.

  4. Experience
  5. 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or account management, preferably within the commercial and/or defence underwater technology sectors.
  • Proven track record of successfully developing and closing complex
  • B2B sales and managing long-term customer relationships.

  • Industry Knowledge
  • Familiarity with the underwater technology market, including trends, key players, and competitive dynamics in Europe.

  • Skills
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and persuade stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and fluency in English.
  • Self-starter mentality with the ability to work independently and handle a high degree of responsibility.
  • Proficiency in CRM software as well as Google, and Microsoft Office Suite.
