Let us describe the challenge


An Embedded Software Engineer in Water Linked faces unique challenges when developing products for underwater use, such as working with constrained platforms, optimizing software for low power consumption, and designing for harsh environmental conditions. They need to have an understanding of hardware and signals, be skilled in low-level programming languages, and have a passion for using modern tools and technologies. Creating high-quality software requires continually improving skills and staying up-to-date with advancements in the field. 

In short, designing products for underwater use requires Embedded Software Engineers to have a unique set of skills and knowledge that allow them to create robust and reliable products in challenging environments.

What you'll do


In your daily work you will be a part of our Software expert group. The group collaborate to deliver innovative solutions into our projects, and makes up one of several main expert groups, working closely to support the business in reaching our goals. You will cooperate across expert groups and play a crucial role in several exciting projects. 

 

Your tasks and responsibilities within the group will include:

  • Software development on embedded platforms
  • Architecture design (software and hardware)
  • Product development
  • Build automation and tooling
  • Testing and verification
  • Product maintenance
  • Design for production

Typical technologies you are likely to come across:

  • C, Python, Go
  • Linux, Debian, debbootstrap, QEMU
  • FPGA (Max 10, Cyclone V, Agilex), VHDL, Quartus Prime
  • Docker
  • git, Gitlab, Gitlab CI
  • Low level protocols (e.g. UART, I2C and SPI)
  • High level protocols (e.g. Bluetooth, BLE, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Cellular)
  • RTOS (Zephyr)
  • STM32 (ST Microelectronics), NRF (Nordic Semiconductor), ARM A9

Must-haves

  • BSc/MSc in a relevant (computer science, cybernetics and electrical engineering)
  • Fluent English skills, both written and spoken as we have global clients and an international environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team 
  • Attention to detail, quality and maintainability 

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional experience, using C/C++/Go or similar languages
  • Experience with Python/FPGA/RTOS  
  • Experience with agile methodologies and testing
