At Water Linked, we pride ourselves on pushing the boundaries of underwater technology. Our journey has been enriched by partnerships with forward-thinking ROV and AUV manufacturers like Boxfish Robotics.

Co-founded by Craig Anderson and Ben King, Boxfish Robotics has been at the forefront of underwater exploration, utilizing our range of innovative DVLs to enhance their ROVs and AUVs operation capabilities. Here's a look at how our collaboration has transformed their capabilities and opened new horizons.

Discovering Water Linked's Innovations

Boxfish Robotics and Water Linked have shared a parallel growth trajectory, launching groundbreaking products around the same time. Craig Anderson recalls,

"We’ve been monitoring Water Linked's innovations since their release of the Underwater GPS. Our companies embarked on their development journeys around the same time, so it’s been great to see the advancements made by both our company and Water Linked."

In this video Ben King takes us through Boxfish’s exciting path from the Boxfish ROV design to the advanced autonomous systems they develop now.

The Game-Changing DVL A50

In their quest for a compact and powerful Doppler Velocity Log (DVL), Boxfish experimented with various models. However, it was the DVL A50 from Water Linked that truly revolutionized their operations. As Anderson describes:

"It was the DVL A50 that truly revolutionized our operations. Its diminutive size belied its powerful performance, especially in challenging conditions."

The integration of the DVL A50 into Boxfish's advanced control systems was seamless. Anderson highlights:

"The stability and duration of the position holding was nothing short of impressive, allowing us to capture stunning underwater footage."

Boxfish Robotics have for instance used the DVL A50 to maintain the same view of an underwater scene for very long periods of time with their Boxfish Luna.

Enhancing the ability of AUVs

When Boxfish Robotics incorporated the Performance model of the DVL A50 into their autonomous product line, including the Boxfish AUV and ARV-i, the results were equally remarkable. Anderson notes:

"The DVL's output was fused with other sensor data to deliver even more precise navigation and altitude control, enhancing our AUVs' ability to carry out operations and navigate with great precision."

This technological synergy allowed them to film underwater infrastructure from 360 degrees, showcasing their commitment to cutting-edge exploration.

Responsive Support and Fast Solutions

At Water Linked, we believe that innovation must be paired with exceptional support. Boxfish Robotics has appreciated our responsiveness and quick problem resolution. Anderson acknowledges this, stating,

"Water Linked has been very responsive to assisting with our technical questions and very fast to repair any of our units. Interestingly, we use the same software as Water Linked to manage our helpdesk."

This alignment has fostered a seamless collaboration, ensuring that technical issues are swiftly addressed and operations remain uninterrupted.

The Future of Boxfish and Water Linked's Collaboration

Looking ahead, Boxfish is certain to continue pushing the envelope in AUV exploration. As Anderson envisions:

"Boxfish is poised to push the boundaries of autonomous underwater exploration. Our Boxfish AUVs, already a testament to our commitment to autonomy, are set to become even more advanced."

Boxfish Robotics is excited about the potential integration of our Sonar 3D-15 technology, which promises to enhance their capabilities further, particularly in inspecting complex undersea infrastructures.
